What is ReadWorkGO! - DOGFIGHT: THE MUSICAL
In the Winter of 2013, Infused Quirk created a theatrical process that allows all participants to take a piece of theater to analyze, discuss, research, experiment with, break it down, rebuild, then finally conceptualize and staff an original (or "quirked") production. After the creative success of our first RWG production of Carrie The Musical, the IQ Staff was able to create a refined process that includes a Staged Reading, a one-day Workshop, a fully-developed Rehearsal process, and a fully-realized, well-executed Production.
Step #1 - The Reading
After some investigation of new musical theatre pieces up for licensing, we have come across a show that speaks very bluntly about the social humanity of America. Nowadays, we see the crazy tagging of #YOLO, which has become synonymous with partying, going crazy, being carefree. The show we are looking to produce is both a history lesson and a commentary of how far we may or may not have come as a society.
Our reading will take place on Sunday, September 14th with a hand-picked cast; directed by James Gerard Russo with Music Direction by Danny Viola & Production Stage Management by Charleen Trimble. While this reading is an invite-only event, please be on the look out for photos and media from our rehearsals as well as the reading itself.
